Thread lift is a procedure that uses a suture, often coated with miniscule barbs, that pulls the skin to produce a lifting and tightening effect.

Thread lift is a non-surgical facelift and it is recommended for anyone who experience skin laxity but does not wish to undergo surgery. Thread lift aims to restore the original position of skin tissue and fats.
PDO (Polydioxanone) is a synthetic polymer widely used as surgical stitch. It is compatible with our bodies and biodegradable. It dissolves spontaneously and is excreted from the body within 6-9 months.
When PDO thread is inserted in the skin, it acts as a mechanical external stimulant which activates the body’s “healing response”. This floods the treated area with growth factors and new vessels to bring about the regenration of collagen and elastin.
Beside PDO, there are other types of thread e.g. Silhouette Soft thread made from Poly L Lactic acid (PLLA) and Poly Lactic-co-Glycolic acid (PLGA).
There are also threads made from Polycaprolactone (PCL) which is a good collagen stimulator and threads coated with hyaluronic acid (HA) which is a good skin hydrator.

Nose enhancement
Threads are inserted under the soft tissues of the nose tip and the nose bridge. Usually, 3 short threads (4cm) are used to lift the nose tip while 6 longer threads (6cm) are used for the nose bridge. The threads forms a scaffolding frame for the nose, drawing it up and giving it an instant lift.
Typically, 9-11 long threads (8-10 cm) are inserted into the targeted area, to pull and reposition the saggy skin. The threads act as suspension lines to sustain and lift all layers of the skin including the dermis and Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System (SMAS) layers. Face thread is barbed/hooked to enhance tissue holding strength and prevent migration of thread.
Benefits of face thread:
10 tiny threads will be inserted into the skin at under-eye area. The use of special blunt needle allows optimal treatment with lower risk of bruising and swelling. The effects of collagen stimulation and lipolysis (fat melting) from PDO thread will help to reduce dark eye circles and improve eye bags.
Thread is a tiny suture which will naturally be reabsorbed by our body. Thread lift procedure is a non-invasive alternative to facelift surgery to combat saggy face by restoring the original position of skin tissue and fats. Thread will also stimulate your own collagen.
Thread lift is suitable for anyone who experience skin laxity but does not wish to undergo surgery.
The thread insertion site will be adequately numbed with local anaesthesia. During the insertion of thread, you may feel tugging/dragging sensation but shouldn’t feel any sharp pain.
The duration of the procedure includes 10 minutes for the numbing to take effect and 15-20 minutes for the thread insertion, depending on the treatment area.
Although the thread will be naturally dissolved in the body within 6-9 months, the result will continue to stay up to 18 months, due to the collagen production.

You may experience slight swelling for the next 2-3 days. You may go back to work after 2 days and resume exercise after 1 week.
No, they will not break. The thread body/stem has a strong anchoring system and great tactile strength which will not break within the skin.
Nose filler and nose thread are both non-surgical nose enhancement procedures. For people with lower/flat nose bridge and seeking to have a higher nose bridge, nose filler is a better option because of the greater volume expansion. Nose thread is more effective in defining and contouring the nose. You can find out more on Nose Enhancement or read on Dr Wong’s blog Nose Fillers Vs Nose Thread
