FUE HAIR TRANSPLANT

FUE method allows transfer of healthy hair graft (from donor area) to hair loss areas (recipient) without scarring.

FUE Hair Transplant

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) Hair Transplant is a procedure that transfers healthy hair follicles from donor area to hair loss areas with lesser downtime and no scarring at the donor area.

FUE refers to the method of how the hair follicles are harvested and transferred to hair loss areas.

Over-production of male hormone is the main cause for hair loss. Hair follicles at the top of your head are hormone sensitive whereas hair follicles at the sides and back of scalp are less affected. The hormone-independent hair follicles harvested from the back of scalp retain their resistance to hormone even at the recipient site. Hence, this allows favourable hair growth at the hormone affected hair loss area.

FAQ

Follicular unit extraction (FUE), also known as follicular transfer, is one of the methods of obtaining hair follicles for hair transplantation. It is an effective hair loss treatment done by harvesting hair grafts from the back of scalp and transplanting them to hair loss areas.

On average, it takes 8 to 10 hours, depending on the complexity and number of grafts. For hair graft not more than 2500, it can be done in one session.

The number of grafts depends on the severity of hair loss condition so it varies from patient to patient. It is recommended to have at least 1500 grafts to see significant improvement. If severe, one may require up to 3000 grafts.

It is not painful after adequately numbed with local anesthesia (lignocaine). After the procedure, you may take simple pain killer when necessary.

Immediately after the procedure, you should plan to go home and rest (minimal activity) until the next morning. Temporary swelling at forehead may occur around 2-3 days following procedure but it will not leave any permanent mark/scar.

It is advisable to avoid heavy physical activity for the first week after the hair transplant. You can resume light physical activities or return to office after 3 days. It is recommended to avoid sun exposures on the scalp for 2 weeks. Also, avoid swimming pool, steam rooms and saunas for 1 month after the procedure.

The recovery and hair regrowth process varies individually. Generally, one can expect to see natural and healthy hair growth from 6 to 12 months.

The result of hair transplant are long-lasting and some considered them as permanent.

Yes, it is a safe procedure, especially when carried out by experienced team, in a proper medical clinic setting.

Unfortunately no, the hair in the donor area will not grow back. However, experience hair technician will harvest them evenly so that your donor area looks normal.

To accelerate healing and speed up hair regrowth, some patients utilize other treatments like Regenera Activa or Calecim hair growth factors. These are additional treatments to enhance the grafts & prevent further loss of native hair.
